Traffic Unit

The mission of the Covina Police Traffic Unit is to promote traffic safety through education and enforcement. The Traffic Unit works with citizens and other branches of City and State Government to identify problematic areas that create traffic hazards. While investigating these areas the Traffic Unit may utilize various methods to reduce hazards, including Public Education, recommend engineering changes to the area, or strict enforcement.

The Covina Police Traffic Unit is part of the Patrol Division. It is staffed by two Traffic Officers who are assigned to motorcycle patrol and are supervised by a sergeant and a lieutenant.

 The Traffic Unit’s responsibilities include:

  • Follow-up investigation of Hit and Run collisions

  • Filing traffic related criminal charges at court

  • Oversight of the Automated Red Light Camera System
(For more information on this system, click here.)
