On September 7, 2013 applicants for the positions of Police Recruit and Police Reserve officer took part in Physical Agility and Written Tests at the Orange County Sheriff's Academy in Tustin. All newly hired officers that have not already completed academy training, will attend this academy to obtain their Basic P.O.S.T. Certificate.

Police Officer Recruit
The Covina Police Department is currently accepting applications for Police Officer Recruit. Testing for the position takes place as needed. Not everyone that applies will be invited to take part in Recruit Testing.
Police Reserve Officer
The Covina Police Department is not currently accepting applications for Police Reserve Officer. Testing for the position takes place as needed, and when we begin accepting applications again the information will be posted here.
The Covina Police Department is not currently accepting applications for the position of Police Jailer.
The Covina Police Department will soon be taking applications for the position of Police Dispatcher on an open and continuous basis. This position is a career position, NOT a stepping stone position for a Police Officer career.
The Covina Police Department is not currently accepting applications for the position of Police Cadet. The Police Cadet Program is for full-time college students only, who are interested in becoming Police Officers after they obtain their college degree. Police Cadets work part-time, an average of 19 hours per week, and perform a variety of tasks throughout the police department, to include Patrol, Detective Bureau, Jail, Records, and Administration. The program is designed to familiarize the Cadet with all aspects of the department, with the goal of developing our future officers from within our agency.
