Juvenile Arrested for Residential Burglary [Press Release]

Valentine's Day shooter arrested: Marcos Contreras was arrested as he left his Covina home. He was booked for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and a gun believed to have been used in the crime was recovered by Covina Police Department detectives [Press Release]


Update:  The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office files 13 felony counts of Grand Theft, and one felony count of Identity Theft against Raymond Zulaica (pictured below).  He is currently being held on $310,000 bail. [Press Release]

April 2014 is Distracted Driving Awareness Month: The Covina Police Department joins the crackdown on texting and handheld phone use behind the wheel. More than 200 other local law enforcement agencies and the California Highway Patrol will participate in the month long "Zero Tolerance" enforcement and education campaign to curb those texting or operating a hand-held mobile phone while driving. An AB-109 Task Force Operation conducted in Covina on Wednesday December 18, 2013 resulted in five arrests ranging from narcotics to parole violations. 20 locations were targeted. Arrests included one for manufacturing a dangerous weapon, a flashlight modified to fire shotgun rounds.

Burglary Suspect Sought by Covina Police: On April 6, 2013 between the hours of 4:00 - 4:30 am, the City of Covina experienced a series of window smash commercial burglaries in which cash registers and currency were taken from each location. Read Press Release

Officers Investigate Injury to Infant:  On 10/22/12 at approximately 2:20 PM, patrol officers responded to the 500 block of East Hurst Avenue in reference to a baby not breathing 9-1-1 call. Suspects Identified:  With help from the public, Covina Police detectives were able to identify the two people shown in these photos, which led to the arrest of 53 year old Ontario resident Michael Sanchez for the August 26th attempted murder of a man in the parking lot of Katie Jakes Bar located at 750 S. Child Sexually Assaulted in Front of Family Home - On Saturday March 17, 2012 at approximately 6:45 PM, a seven year old girl was standing in the driveway of her home when a male suspect approached her, covered her mouth, and took her to the side of the house where he sexually assaulted her.   READ MORE


Police Employee Arrested for Theft of Public Funds - In May, 2011, the Covina Police Department conducted an internal audit of accounts associated with funds accepted at its front desk and parking permit machines located at the police facility and other City parking lots.
