About the City Clerk
The City Clerk is responsible for the legislative operations of the City. The City Clerk has direct signature authority required on all ordinances, resolutions and other official documents of the City.

The City Clerk's office:

  • houses all official documents of the City,

  • compiles meeting agendas for City Council, and processes the minutes of Council meetings

  • ensures that the Brown Act and other applicable government codes are followed

  • acts as Elections Official, making sure that municipal elections are fair and transparent

  • is apolitical and impartial.

History of the City Clerk in Covina
in 1901 E.B. Currie was the first elected City Clerk for the City of Covina. At that time, the Clerk and the City Marshal were the only two paid City employees.
